What ambient lighting actually is
Ambient lighting is the low, even glow that traces the lines of the interior: along the dash, around the console, under the seats and into the footwells. Done well, you never see a bulb or a strip, just the light itself. That is the difference between an installation and a gadget stuck under a seat.
You choose the character. Soft white reads factory and calm. RGB setups change color on the fly from a remote or a phone app, so the cabin can match your paint, your mood or nothing at all.
And in Indianapolis it earns its keep. Half the year, the commute runs dark in both directions, and a cabin with real light in it is the difference between a car you sit in and one you actually like being in from November to March.
Custom fabrication takes it past strips
Tape-in strips are the entry point, and there is nothing wrong with them when they are placed and wired right. The step past that is fabrication: backlit panels, edge-lit acrylic, lit speaker rings and consoles built in the shop around the light itself.
The truck console in the photo at the top of this page came out of our shop: lit grilles, cupholders and panels built as one piece. The insert shown here is a single edge-lit cupholder, machined acrylic with even light and no hot spots. Small pieces like that are what make a lit interior look factory instead of taped together.

Soft white or color: how to choose
If you want the vehicle to read stock, choose soft white and keep it low. It flatters every interior, it never argues with the gauges, and nobody asks what was added. If you want options, go RGB: it can sit on white for the commute and switch to color when you feel like it, from the remote or your phone.
The honest tiebreaker is how long you keep vehicles. White ages invisibly. Color is a taste you should actually have, not one the car imposes on the next owner.
Wiring is the whole job
Anyone can make an LED light up once. The job is making it light up for years: fused circuits, proper connections instead of taps pinched onto factory wires, draw low enough that your battery never notices, and every wire hidden.
It is the same standard we hold on a stereo install, because it is the same vehicle and the same electrical system, and we are the ones who will see the car again if something was done lazily.
That is also the case for doing it here instead of from a parts-store blister pack. The kit is the cheap part either way. The difference you live with is whether the light is even, the color holds across every zone and the wiring disappears.
Lighting and audio, built together
Half the lit interiors in our gallery started life as audio builds. Lit speaker rings, glowing amp racks and trunk panels come out of the same shop booth as the subwoofers behind them, so if a stereo upgrade is anywhere in your plans, say so. We will design the lighting with the audio instead of around it.

Common questions
What is the difference between ambient lighting and underglow?
Ambient lighting lives inside the cabin: dash lines, console, footwells and doors. Underglow lives under the body and lights the ground. We install both, and we set exterior lighting up to comply with local regulations so you stay street legal. See the main lighting page for headlights and underglow.
Can I change the colors from my phone?
Yes. Alongside soft white, we fit RGB setups you can change on the fly from a remote or a phone app, so the cabin can match your paint, your mood or nothing at all.
Will interior LEDs drain my battery?
No. LEDs are far more efficient than old bulbs and the draw on your electrical system stays low. Everything is fused and wired so nothing stays live that should not.
Do you use tape-in kits or build custom pieces?

Is interior lighting distracting to drive with?
Not when it is placed right. Ambient light should be low, indirect and out of your sightline: it lights surfaces, not eyes. We aim sources down, shield them behind trim, and leave you a control to dim everything or shut it off completely.
