Marine gear is not car gear with a sticker
Marine speakers and amplifiers are built to resist moisture, salt and UV exposure. The cones shrug off water, the hardware does not corrode, and a summer of direct sun does not chalk the grilles white. A car speaker dropped into a boat sounds fine in June and is a disappointment by August.
That is the first thing we check on any boat that arrives with a dead or dying system: whether the gear that failed was ever meant to be out there. Often the fix starts with simply fitting equipment built for the job.

Start at the source, then split into zones
Most builds start with a marine-rated receiver at the helm: sealed against spray, readable in full sun, streaming from the phones on board. From there, bigger boats split into zones, so the bow gets party volume while the helm keeps conversation volume, off one system instead of a fight over one knob.
A pontoon that hosts a crowd, a ski boat that needs sound over the engine and a fishing boat that mostly wants a quiet morning are three different plans. Tell us how the boat is actually used and we will size the system to that, not to a catalog page.
Geist, Morse and anywhere a trailer reaches
Most of the boats we work on live at Geist Reservoir and Morse Reservoir, a short pull down from Fishers and Noblesville, and the shop sits just off Keystone on the north side of Indianapolis. Bring the boat in on its trailer and it is planned like any other install: quote first, then the work, all in-house.
We have been wiring vehicles at 5353 N Keystone Ave since 1973. A boat is a different shape with the same rules: clean power, solid mounting and connections that hold up to a life outdoors.
The wiring matters more on the water
Everything hard about vehicle wiring is harder on a boat. Runs are longer, the spaces the wire lives in get wet, and the battery has to start the engine no matter how long the music played at anchor. So the electrical plan comes first: what the system draws, what the boat can give, and where every connection can live dry.
Connections get sealed, wire is routed away from the water that finds everything, and the system is fused where it should be. None of that shows from the helm. All of it decides whether the stereo still works in three summers.
Built alongside the powersport work
Boats share the shop with motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs, where we build custom setups around Ground Zero and SounDigital components that have to survive mud, dust and water. The weatherproofing discipline carries straight over to the lake, and so does the honesty: we would rather size a system correctly than sell you the biggest thing on the shelf.

The simplest time to plan a marine system is when the boat is already out of the water. Winter work means no lost lake days, and a spring launch with the music already done. If the boat is stored, that is not a delay, that is the opening.

Common questions
Can regular car speakers go in a boat?
They will fit, and then they will fail. Marine speakers and amplifiers are built to resist moisture, salt and UV exposure; car gear is not. A car speaker on the water sounds fine for a season and then the cone, the surround or the hardware gives up. Buy marine grade once.
What kinds of boats do you work on?
If it floats and has a battery, it is worth asking. Most of what we see are the pontoons, ski boats and fishing boats that live at Geist and Morse, brought in on the trailer like any other vehicle.
Why does a boat need more power than a car?
No roof, no doors, no cabin. On open water the music competes with wind and engine noise and has nothing to reflect off, so it takes more cone area and more clean amplifier power to sound full at cruising speed than the same music needs in a car.
Do you also do audio for UTVs and motorcycles?
Yes. Boats share the shop with motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs, and the weatherproofing discipline is the same: gear that shrugs off water, sun and vibration.
My boat stereo died. Do I have to replace the whole system?
Not until we know what failed. On the water it is usually a corroded connection, a cooked speaker or a source unit that gave up, and each has a different honest answer. We diagnose before we recommend, on gear we did not install and did not sell.
